Dude run, don’t walk away from this. The McK transformation I was involved with was a complete goat F. Sure, McK peeps are great at traditional strategy work, but they have no business touching anything remotely resembling transformation (much more of mgmt consulting flavor). They got canned after 9 months and we were left to pick up the pieces.
But to kinda answer your question, Peeps seemed nice enough but had zero life outside of work. They responded regardless of the time. Typical travelled onsite every 2 weeks. You get my general sentiment.
Thanks for your feedback SP1. With the lack of McKinsey input on this thread, I believe it is safe to say that McKinsey Transformations is aids. Huge LOL at the people who wasted money on MBAs to go there. Especially with the fact that some generalists are now doing implementation & transformation work.

left several years ago. am in PE now. based on how it was:
1. 50-60, very manageable. may spike due to additional practice building work
2. was at client site 4-5 days a week
3. unsure of the latest
Did one transformation project — 55-60 hours average, was good learning (modeling the “strategy” section at the beginning of the transformation, and good stakeholder management practice versus my CDD projects.
Left to PE two years ago after my analyst stint.

Identical. You’re generally not put into a specific “group” but you can self select into certain types of projects

McK transformation has a clear playbook, so most of the work is turning the crank. I’d say 50-60 hrs/wk is pretty typical. They travel a ton, and the firm overall is very busy, including MT. My advice: talk to them and see if you would enjoy working with those colleagues and grill them on the nature of the work. McK as a firm isn’t perfect but it’s helped me grow a ton and I love my colleagues.
