Quick story short I lost my job, got fired because I accidentally slept pass through my shift and my alarm didn’t wake me. Strict rules. Anyway I’m about a month jobless and my biggest concern is why does everywhere require so much years of experience and I have that but also why don’t they give a chance to train them? I’ve applied to over 100 places and surprise surprise no call nothing or I get rejected and moved to the next candidate who’s not even more qualified than I am. Some bs here

My theory: HR is just posting "requirements" for the "ideal employee" without a shred of input from the actual department that will need the position filled. They're hoping to weed out people who aren't even close to the requirements to thin the applicant pool. I've heard that if you have the skills, but not the years, apply anyway. It might not pan out, but then again it very well could because employers take ages to get back to people and their top candidate might have accepted another position or ghosted them, so they gotta dip back into the applicant pool.

For some info to help you on the job search YT has a channel called "Life After Layoff" run by a former HR person and there's a lot of good info there about dealing with job searches and what's screwed up about the job market. Might help you out a bit. Might lean more corporate at times, but he's all about helping folks with resumes and how job searches change. Good luck!

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)?
