I'm fine with any rule that makes it harder to travel with young children.
Unless your kids are A List too, family boarding between A and B is way generous enough.
I agree with you OP. Children should automatically be put with their parents
You could have paid for early bird for your kids so they could have A seats and then boarded closer to your original assignment.
Why is that unfair?
I agree with the southwest policy.
Holy sense of entitlement, Batman
It's pretty simple: why should other A-Listers, families, early birds, and people who logged in early have to board after your kids? What if everyone with status has kids? Simple solution really: fly a real airline. My whole fam gets priority access, free bags, and upgrades with me.
Anytime I'm traveling with people who don't have status they board with me and AA doesn't care. Pretty sure that's standard with the other major airlines. I know southwest is different with their boarding, but I would expect them to at least allow children to board early.
First world problems
EY1. You are an asshole
The 'cattle call' is way more orderly than AA or United boarding. It works. Well. Everyone does exactly what the are supposed to do. And I'm happy when I fly them since it's so easy to pretty much guarantee that I get an aisle seat.
Unfair because I'm the main adult and I get privileges to board early due to my status. Kids can't stay behind and board without me? Why does southwest separate family or penalizes me for traveling with them?
BA1 - the point is that additional payment is a form of economic burden that I should not bear for having little kids traveling with me on the airline which I fly every week for business.
You can ask for a pre board. I get it every time. Everyone else does so why not.
P1-OP is complaining that he didn't want to do family boarding, which comes after A boarding.
What's up with the negativity. If he's A why not let his kids on. It's not like their not going to sit together. Give me a break. Side note why would you ever fly southwest. What a cattle call. I avoid it at all cost.
Is anyone else wondering why the OP is flying Southwest?
Nope.
D5, I have a young child of my own.
