Reading materials for Snr Strats planning their move up, what’s the one you read that made you go ‘aha’? I’ve read Good To Great and am ploughing through Good Strategy Bad Strategy but need something more marketing-specific to be clearer on how my strategy peers in agencies are thinking and working, and how my non-strat colleagues see the role. For context I’ve worked in agencies for twelve years but been a pure strategist for three, so missed any formal guidance in a lot of the ‘basics’.

I was in audit for about 4 years then switched to provisions. I’m now 7 years in and want a more steady schedule. I like the client aspect of public accounting, flexibility and mentoring/training younger associates, but feel pretty meh about tax in general. I’m not doing another busy season even if that means leaving without a job lined up. What does a person do in this situation?

For those who have obtained the CFF certification:
I was asked to put together a working plan to obtain my CFF credential. I’m aware of the 2 certificate program (Core and Specialized) through the AICPA that will lead to the CFF. Does anyone have experience in how long it would take to complete the certificates and if there are other necessary or helpful study materials that would be useful? For background, I’m 6 months into working at this firm and have touched a variety of cases.
