HELP! 30+ years of teaching Sped and I’m at a loss. 6th grade student in Middle School with Doose syndrome. Prior to MS, the elementary said he never caused problems. Since the 1st day, he is disruptive in class, refuses to work, and is disrespectful. He has a one-on-one para but she is in tears most days because of his behavior. Parents agreed with a behavior plan - he thinks it’s a game. Parents say he is not allowed to be this way at home.

I'm panicking. We just adopted a 12 week old kitten. My 12 year old cat is pissed at me. My dog wants to be friends with the cats, but the cats are less than enthused. I'm keeping the new kitten in the bathroom when they can't all be supervised. What was I thinking? We can't give the kitten back because my toddler is in love. Please tell me it will be OK.

Curiosity question - I’m a naturally very chatty senior and I’ve noticed that the staff 1s who are starting remotely and living at their parents’ home (which makes a ton of sense with the remote working) that I’ve been working with seem to want to chat about both semi related work stuff and non work stuff a fair amount. If you’re a staff living at home, do you enjoy having seniors who will chat with you about random things or would you rather just get your work done and log off?

I’m afraid I’m emotionally unavailable and that by the time I figure out how to be emotionally available I’ll have lost the good guy I’m currently with. I love this guy with my head but not my heart. But also my heart feels dead in general so 🫠. I’m already in therapy. What if this is as far as I can go in terms of emotional capacity? I am stressed.

Are there any mothers here who voluntarily gave primary custody to the kids father? I love my children fiercely but tbh I don’t think I’m cut out to be a single parent. A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees.
