Recently began an exciting and challenging position in a new area of law for a corporate client. I was recruited for the position and made a point that I would need training in new area of law. Everyone agreed. Weeks in, the partner I was hired to work for is perpetually unavailable and increasingly annoyed at my questions. I know they’re busy. But what can I do to earn their trust if I can hardly get any attention?

Check in regularly. I'm assuming you're remote, and that makes training hard. If you have any idea of where to start, make suggestions - "I've heard so-and-so treatise is really good and I plan to read the chapters on X and Y. Would you suggest any other readings?" Or ask the attorneys who publish often if you can do research/edit for them on articles and other publications. And ask if you can "eavesdrop" on calls, if client communication is important in your field. Find an attorney who will let you shadow them and listen in on calls. Lots of nonbillable work ahead, but hopefully you'll start getting more experience soon!

Love this but I’ve tried. I emailed them weeks ago about CLEs, even sought approval for one. Crickets. Other associates in my practice group are fairly new themselves so they’re limited in how helpful they can be.

With some partners it seems like you can’t get any input unless you’ve got their attention with a call. Is there any way you could schedule a time to check in?

Hey everyone! I’m interviewing for an HR Generalist role at a Fintech company, this will be their first HR hire and will be reporting to the CFO. I got invited to a second round interview to meet the team to ensure that it’s a good culture fit. I would love to know any thoughts on what I should ask or do to ensure that I am great fit. I left a good impression on the CFO but would to see what else so can do when meeting with the team since it’ll be a 2.5 hour meet up. I’m really excited!

I work in a sucky IBM cic, making $54k. It’s a full time job with regular benefits and vacation etc, it’s working with government clients. The job isn’t what I applied for & constantly changes. I don’t like that, but I’m a full time employee which is “stable employment”. Btw, I’m in the DC area.

I just got hired for a government contract through Accenture for a Business Analyst role. Pay is $65 per hour. 3 year contract. Benefits too. No PTO. Holidays off with pay, after 90 days.

Thoughts?

Hello everyone ,
I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. What are some good companies I maybe should apply for after getting my license?
