It’s fine if you are a staff. If you were a manager signing off on an engagement it might be a different story. There are some staff that don’t even have CPA licenses and they are still assigned to engagements
You’re a staff right? Start the process of getting your license transferred to your home state. Unless you become a manager next year then you’ll be fine. Even if it takes 2 years to fully transfer which I doubt, you’ll be fine.
Why don’t you just get a CPA license in your work state? It’s not that difficult if you already hold a license from another state
I’m already in the process but it’s slowing processing. It takes time so I just want to check whether I could be staffed before I got the reciprocal license.
If you’re a staff they are just going plug you into jobs and they could care less if you’re licensed. I’m a 3rd year senior no license and my utilization is high as hell
Things look like different if you are simply not holding any CPA license or if you are holding a CPA license outside of your work state. Also to clarify- I already applied a reciprocal license in my work state but it takes time to process. Don’t want to be unassigned for such a long time
I went from OR to MO.
It probably depends on which state and that states reciprocity rules. I would look online or provide more specifics here.
Mobility rule only applies when I have out of state license and my principal business is in that state as well. I don’t think my situation could utilize mobility rule so wondering if someone has similar experience.
I was a senior 2 with no cpa and no one ever not staffed me on engagements because of that. I think this issue is for managers.
Thank you everyone for your reply. The main issue is if I don’t have CPA, it won’t be a problem since I’m just a staff. But now the situation is I’m a CPA outside of my work state so if I’m restricted by CPA laws and regulations and need to concern when I don’t have state in my work state. Anyone ever have experience?
Thank you PwC1! I think what you said makes sense to me. Will definitely do that
Surprised no one mentioned we have a whole team dedicated to CPA questions like this. There is a site for FAQs that has an interactive map for these exact questions. And if you don’t find a answer there is a team you can email with your situation.
I did reach out but they respond so slowly. It’s a time sensitive issue
