Recently was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. Any other ADHD Architects out there willing to share their story of how it affects their career?

I got an ADHD diagnosis when I was in middle school, and I was medicated for quite a long time. But to be honest I think the medication did more harm than good (I don't think they're giving out adderral like they used to, but be careful if they're trying to get on a stimulant). I think life after medication has been much calmer for me (ironic I know). I think the main thing I notice about being an architect with ADHD is that I just have to work extra hard to finish projects. I am notorious for starting a million projects and not completing any of them. So I have to be accountable with deadlines to myself and others to get things over the finish line

Hello Fam Law attys!

I am in my second year as a attorney, I was a FL paralegal before law school and would eventually like to end up there again. I am in a very small rural area, pretty much only solos, and no FL solos appear to be hiring/expanding at this time.

Do you think experience as a DA or PD would be valuable, with my eye toward a future in FL? Both for the skills gained, and/or as a resume piece?

TY!

2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Will this ruin my opportunities down the road?

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?

I don’t want to be greedy but it’s so expensive out here… Thank you 🌈

I’m curious to know if anyone has experience working part-time in architecture? I have been working for large international firms in NYC for the past 10 years. So I work all day every day. My evenings and often the weekends are all absorbed by work duties. Working part-time would allow me to find a better balance, and carve out space for side gigs and eventually start my own firm. Any recommendations?
