I use the nest indoor cams .. they aren’t perfect for watching kids (no alarms based on noise), but they work well for us.
Also I can scare my wife when I’m on the road by randomly talking to her through it 😂
Nest Cam. Hands down.
Thanks ! I was down to the nest v netgear Arlo. Do you do the subscription for Nest as well?
Curious to hear people’s thoughts on the privacy risks of something that’s accessible remotely - I get the convenience but many of us have those little covers on the laptop webcams and having something streaming from one’s home makes me a bit concerned.
I don’t pay for the subscription.. but I probably should. It comes with a trial and it was pretty useful.
I use IP Cameras (e.g., amcrest) and have a private VPN setup to connect when I’m away. I am suspicious of the security of cloud cameras like nest, and port forwarding puts a lot of trust in the camera’s built in security
I do the Nest Cam with the subscription that includes 30 days backup. It competes well with a custom configuration with AWS storage or something similar
Blink
Same wireless concept as Arlo.. but cheaper.. better storage and now part of Amazon
We have five of Blink camera around the house.. and get alerts or can use them for live feed
Same as D2 here. Had a Synology NAS already, and configured a VPN to my home network so I can just access an amcrest camera and all its recordings remotely and securely. Also blocked internet access from the camera IP.
Cheaper than a nest subscription but I totally get that doing this setup requires a bit of tech work that isn't appealing to some.
