What did you THINK you were going to do when you started college, and what do you do today?

Anyone else dealing with emotional trauma that is bubbling back up thanks to all the free time we have to think about shit endlessly? Or the fact that frustrating family brings up stuff, but since they are now 80% of your human interaction, it's a lot more overwhelming? How are you dealing with it?

Going back to work next month. Have a full time nanny but feel like even that isnt enough. I work all sorts of timezones. Europe has my morning, Asia has my evening. Nanny 9-5? 7-3? 10-6? No clue what will work best and don’t want to be inconsistent with her. Any advice on the return?

How do you guys make friends in a new town?

I’m so scared to let a relationship that gives me anxiety go because I’m 36 F and feel like I’m not going to find anyone else. He’s not a horrible person, but he can be inconsistent. When I bring it up to him he says he’ll try harder but then always goes back to default. I stick around because I think it’s more a personality trait and not that he’s not interested in me (maybe I’m naïve). Could really use some encouragement from a bunch of strangers.

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? My significant other and I are doing long distance and I feel like when I FaceTime with him, I emote more and show interest by asking more questions but from his end, he doesn’t always have a reaction or just nods, and it makes me feel like he’s uninterested. On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

How’s everyone holding up? For those of us who do 12 step meetings, I for one miss the hugs! We have to work harder now to stay connected as we are isolators by nature. Find time for you 🙏

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I grew up poor and was obsessed w financial security. After investing my blood, sweat and tears into my career for years, I’ve decided I don’t care about my career or earnings as long as I have enough to support my family. We are happier than ever making less and saving little. I wasn’t there when my mom was sick and died because I was working and my employer didn’t allow me to be in a mental headspace to be a good person for my family. I can never change that but I can be better going forward.
