Regarding private jets… do you usually book private jet flights for vacation? I’m thinking about the advantages of it within the US or internationally.

Must be the scarcity mindset my parents imbued me with, but if I’m flying on my own dime (and not using/have exhausted all my points), then my family and I are flying Economy/Coach.

If I’m travelling solo I will still take the longest/most inconvenient route if that’s the cheapest 😂

You and me both. lol

Holy moly! OP and I are clearly not at the same firm.

I own two private jets , one in US and one in Europe, I have a flying license, and roster of pilots on standby.

So whenever I am in the mood for a little trip, either I just take the plane or call up the roster to see who’s available.

I have few jets of mine, easily accessible over a digital portal that I go into.. and pick the route I want ;)

Bro (surely this is a dude) your kids must be 10000000% against PJs. Why don’t you piss out the door to supplement the CO your dumping on the serfs heads. Internationally? Seriously your saying a PJ beats Ethiad first class? Not buying it.

Chill out, take the ferry to Nantucket with the multimillionaires. It’s pretty nice - you might see an actual whale.

A few years ago, a colleague and his family passed away due to a private jet crash. Since then, I stay away from them.

International private will set you back into the six figures, is my understanding. Is it worth the cost of a Porsche to you just for one flight?

like

That shared stuff doesn’t usually materialize unless you are NYC to Florida or west coast to SLC or Denver Mountains. It’s not a calculation of cost vs time it’s about controlling your own schedule, leaving when you are ready and keeping life simple. You show up the plane is waiting, you leave, you land, rental car or driver waiting for you on the tarmac and off you go.

It makes more sense if some of these are true:
- short distance
- small airports not served well by commercial
- need more seats
- tight timeframe

Can I leave my biglaw job 3 months before my COA clerkship? Not sure if it will look bad or like I have a gap in my resume. I’m going on 2 years at my firm and I can’t stand it. I’m burned out and the partners I work for told me not to take a vacation this year because of my upcoming clerkship. I have ALREADY billed 2,200 hours this year. I’m absolutely not coming back to this firm post-clerkship.

How much stock do you put on benefits? I have two offers with stark differences in benefits. Job 1: role I want, but benefit sucks (2 weeks paternity leave, 20% coinsurance). Job 2: role is okay but higher level and great benefits (16 weeks paternity, 0% coinsurance, 5 more days of vacation). Total comp is the same though. I wonder if I should just focus on role but Job 2 is a large company, so I can move around after 2-3 years I’d expect. Thoughts?

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

It hurts me that I feel like I have to do that, but I don’t want to risk losing my job. I know they can’t fire me for being in a wlw relationship but they don’t have to give a reason. I don’t want the backlash of the community either since the area I teach in is really rural. Just sad I guess.

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?
