Requiring three professional references before even making an official job offer is a completely disrespectful hiring practice. I don’t want to constantly bother my former managers and colleagues to fill out corporate surveys or jump on calls when I’m interviewing at four different places simultaneously. It burns through my professional network’s good graces before I even know if the job is worth taking. Is it reasonable to tell a company that you’ll only provide references once a conditional offer letter is in hand?
