Hi Techies,
I want to know that where should move/upskill from networking routing switching to other domains to get more salary.
I feels that networking industry doesn't have deep pocket like others.
Any suggestions of technology/domain?

My sister is in sales and makes a quarter million a year after commission. The job is definitely less technical than ours but she works 70-80 hours a week and sometimes more by taking her clients out constantly. It sounds cool to go to the hamptons on the company dime but I can’t imagine spending a weekend with my clients haha
With great reward comes great risk...
Hopefully there’s more to your career choice than salary
I just made the move to sales from consulting. I’m in more of a technical sales role for a brand new, unproven, product. Still learning the product, so haven’t had the chance to get out there and realize the $$ upside. I can say that I am quite enjoying my 45 hour weeks and <= 50% travel thus far. Base pay was a slight increase (made sure of this due to uncertainty around it being a new product) but total comp could range from slightly below to 100k above what I was making in consulting.
Become a partner and do both!
Consulting turns into sales after you’re promoted to MD
^ Agreed...same for most firms at Director level and up
I just asked this question! EY1 - If you could get a base of $100k plus commission of 2x that (or more), would you say take the offer? I’m wondering (and OP might also be wondering) what the stress level is compared to consulting?
I think the combined stress level (on an annual basis) is less than what consulting typically would be
OP depends on how stressed out you would get about wide fluctuations in each paycheck, and depending on the market waiting through dry patches.
To be fair, in recessions, sales is the only function that companies hire more of
