Seattle is still ridiculously cheap in comparison to the Bay Area and LAX, if you are able to make the same money in any of them, go to Seattle.
I would be in Seattle unless a job offer in SFO/LAX was paying 30%+ more
Seattle is so boring though. Go to LA where at least it’s liveable and there’s things to do all the time.
Depends what you like to do... LA might have clubs and bars and people who think they are special but the hiking and skiing and biking is all overcrowded and shitty
One vote for LA 🙋🏻♀️, I’ve spent so much time in all 3.
LA is so diverse, amazing food scene, a neighborhood for every personality, amazing entertainment options, weather is unmatched, beach/mountains/city all in one, cheaper than SF (and not climbing as fast as Seattle), driving distance from wineries/skiing/San Diego, etc. I could go on! Also, just chiller lifestyle.
I’m sorry but SF is just asking for a shitty commute since you’ll want to be downtown but most of the jobs are in the Bay. It’s colder and most the good outdoor stuff is a decent drive. More expensive, don’t care for people as much, also, downtown is gross imo.
Seattle is gorgeous and really cool city. I don’t think I’d like the travel commute being so far from other major cities for work, and winter is okay but not as good as LA.
I currently live in Seattle and lived in the Bay Area for a few years about a decade ago. For me Seattle wins hands down. The rain here can be rough in the winter (though I remember some very rainy, cold winters in SF) but generally isn’t as bad as everyone says and the summers are amazing. People in Seattle are much nicer and considerate, less cutthroat and self serving than NorCal, though they can be a bit passive aggressive here It’s much easier to escape the crowds than the Bay Area and get out into nature. And, like others have said, cost of living is high but still much better than SF. Really my only complaint about Seattle is all the Californians that have moved here in the last few years to work at Amazon. 😉
Lived in all three. LA is the best city by far on all fronts
I live in LA and have lived in Seattle and SF. SF absolutely not. It’s the worst of everything besides tech. I’m counting down the days till I can move back to Seattle.
LA all day. And I’ve spent more than enough time in all 3 to feel justified in saying that
Seattle is still cheaper than SF
Seattle just sounds pleasant. SF is disgustingly expensive for suburb living. LA has great weather but stays on fire and awful traffic with poor public transit. Never been to Seattle but from what I heard it sounds nice.
The fires are not in LA proper. They are in the surrounding counties and cities. Poor public transit is true. Regarding bad traffic, it doesn’t matter to traveling consultants like me since I’m not in my car during weekday commuter traffic.
Love it here! No flight delays ever, except due to delayed inbound flights. Perfect weather.
Also, Washington State doesn’t have state income tax.
What do you like to do? If it’s outdoors, clearly Seattle.
Really depends on your age and other life goals. My tech friends (early 20-somethings) lament over the lack of bachelors/bachelorettes in Seattle
