Get food that is hands free, preferably a salad and cut it into small bites. Trust me on this.

Most good candidates shoot themselves in the foot during a lunch. Just play for time and damage control, not usually a place to score points.

Order a beer and hit all the hot button issues… gun control, abortion and trans rights are good starting points.

You’ve got it if you’re going to lunch. Just be cool but don’t get drunk or too comfortable. Ask a lot about them, make some casual conversation, etc. be someone they want to have group dinners with.
Usually a good sign and more of a culture test than anything else.
As others have said order appropriately and try to go after the attorney.
Study the folks you are going with to the best you can and try to come up with a few relatable stories beforehand for any lulls.
None of this will prevent straight duds across from you.
The bar is low, don’t get paranoid about what you order and don’t act like a robot. Just treat it like a normal lunch, which is all it is. I’ve gone on two lunches with interviewees this week and all I care about is whether they can carry a normal, pleasant conversation over lunch. Obviously if you have questions about the firm or practice fire away.
