Is Morgan Stanley currently remote? Just got a job for a contract position in NYC for Morgan Stanley downtown office (1 Penn plaza). I heard from some employees that they are remote but the hiring manager said I should come into office. Kinda confused why a contractor would need to come into office and employees are working remote.

Hey, it's not my fault I wasn't born with the necessary biological functions to birth and breastfeed a child. Why don't you check your #femaleprivilege?
Should def be equal. Im a woman and have kids, and while men dont need the physical recovery, having them also make tough decisions about taking time off will be good to help level the playing field. If men take 3-6 months off, they may be just as disadvantaged as the ladies who do the same.
Folks want equality, right?
No. Not until men spend 9 months creating the kid, birth it and feed it from their breasts
There should be sufficient leave for both with a longer leave going to the primary care giver, whoever that may be
Agreed with IBA1 - it helps fight the discrimination and eliminates child rearing as a hiring component. Also it's shown that it really helps the father as they get to partake in the early development of their children, not to mention the scientific research other countries have pulled on how both parents getting paid leave effects the child's development in many positive ways
Surprising triggered ^
I am female and I'm with IBA1. It should be equal. Not only will it help level the playing field for females and help eliminate discriminatory hiring, it will also help eliminate the stigma that the female should be the one at home taking care of children. @Analyst1 and others who say no - this could help gender equality for us ladies. Plus, why wouldn't you want your husband to get time off with the kid so you don't have to do it all on your own....
Loving this thread already
Parental leave isn't just about physically recovering from pregnancy and childbirth. It's about looking after the needs of your infant, and bonding with it. Both parents need and should have that. It's about supporting each other too, and both parents should have access to the same amount of time to do that. I like the "split it how you like" UK model, but I believe very strongly that a firm should offer the same paternity/maternity pay to employees regardless of their gender.
No
It is in some forward thinking countries such as the U.K. Both parents can split the 12 months leave between them and they can decide what they want to do. The mother could take two weeks and the father would be able to take the rest. What you get paid is up to your employer, most of whom haven't caught up with this new law yet. So for the father, expect two weeks full pay and the next 8.5 months at statutory pay. The remaining 3 months would be unpaid.
Absolutely it should be.
