Yay for globalization! Without technology, I'm assuming overseas business was extremely hard, if not impossible in some cases. With technology and Zoom, we can conduct this same business in a matter of hours.

Novice investor here so please bear with me. I opened a vanguard account dec 2019 and invested around $1K..over the course of the year I invested about $68k.. I just checked the total gains and it shows about $10k. That’s about 14% gain via investment in small amounts in vgt, zoom, tsla, ark, vtsax etc..Is it fair to assume 15% gain year over year ?

How are you teaching middle or high school chorus in the fully virtual realm? I’m looking for new ideas and techniques. I hate that my choirs can only sing on Zoom with everyone muted...that’s the opposite of choral singing :-(

Waze has been tried and true. Gets me there, warnings are reliable and routing around jams is wonderful. Just won’t go anywhere without it. Often zoom on routes my kids are taking just to be sure they are safe. Great app.

How is the job security at EY GDS(tech consulting)?

I moved from consulting to tech close to a year ago. I really enjoy working with my direct boss, who creates opportunities for me, but am frustrated by my boss' boss, who is an absolute nightmare of a micromanager. Emails / messages late at night (say 3am) and over weekends, and even whilst he is on break... which frankly sets horrible expectations. Also, changes his mind all the time. Should I move elsewhere? I'm torn as my direct boss is great.

Anyone else feel like the HR person who screens you for interview lies? This HR rep told me that the hiring manager personally picked my resume out and asked her to call me. She told me only one other candidate was interviewed and he wasn’t moving on and they immediately knew that. I had the interview with the hiring manager, it went well I thought. Then three weeks pass and today they told me they offered the position to someone else. 😡

How do you handle a CD that overrides everything to do with web/UX/UI for their own opinions and tastes? A few months ago the same CD admitted to having no new web knowledge since the mid 90's...

My team and I have provided research/data backed design choices but our CD could care less. We present our ideas in a respectful manner but it seems he interprets it as a threat to his authority. It makes for a frustrating work environment and our products aren't nearly as successful as they could be.

Is SEO a lost game for a startup? I read a new perspective arguing that for SMEs, competing on SEO is a long and constant fight against the algorithm. Bigger companies have the specialists and budget to undertake the challenges but for new companies, it is much harder.
