Shoutout to KPMG for the worst recruitment process. I get referred in July and two weeks later I’m told I’d get an interview, I wait almost two months and then reach out to the partner because I was really interested in the role, and finally set up an interview. It takes a month to schedule the phone screen and then I have the final rounds. I follow up because I have an outside offer and I get no response. Recruiters repeatedly missed interviews, and then random team members joined the interview

Ghosting- pretty common right now. You never stop searching for a job. Even if you get an offer and you join - you keep interviewing for the next best offer

I agree and definitely just have to look out for yourself

Oof I thought I had a bad experience with EY. They took 4 months to hire me

likehelpful

Sorry you experienced that. For me I had to stay on top of the recruiters which was a less than pleasant experience. But I have to say after getting hired it’s been smooth sailing.

Don’t come, trust me and others.

Yep sounds about right

I understand I wasn’t the right fit, but please save my time and let me know instead of stringing me along

It’s just a sign of how bad they are internally. For real, run for the hills.

Yeah I think I dodged a bullet luckily

KPMG did the same thing to me all the while telling me I was a great fit. Lol bye ghost 👻

It's a numbers game unfortunately. Interested in EY? DM me and we can work something out :)

KPMG did the same to me. 6 rounds of interviews including an on-site in NYC, after which they ghosted me for 2 weeks and then followed up with a generic rejection email

like

Helpful—appreciate your sharing but sorry you had to endure that!

With a hiring process being this much of a clusterf*ck, you can tell how the rest of the company us run and draw your conclusions

I had the same experienve, by the time I had my first interview I had accepted an offer for a job I started the process two months later than KPMG.

Can anyone provide the teams you applied to? If it was DAS, that can be sorted pretty quickly I imagine since we can’t hire fast enough so no one should be left hanging, even if not being a fit

Cognitive Labs in NYC

Bruh KPMG is like that even when you get hired. Over 2 months here and I just got on a project with literal 0 training

Bruh, you’re a senior and have had two months to figure out what training you need. I think that’s at least a tie

They should have but I’ll take the fat paycheck and skate by for a year and then leave

I currently make 78k at Lockheed but I’m not doing what I’d like to be doing and i felt stuck and after many conversations with my manager and no solution in sight, I started applying elsewhere. I wanted to reschedule my hiring manager screen this week because I tested positive for covid and feeling sick with symptoms. Recruiter seemed annoyed and said hiring manager is busy for the rest of the week so I kept the original time slot. I’m considering a position doing RPA development and Low Code integration for for a consultancy. I’ve been primarily doing process work in my current role but I’m familiar with the technical aspects of this space. Is it too late to build skills in the RPA & Low Code areas? Is this still a space that is worth building competency in? Ultimately my goal is to get some experience doing solutioning type work, while I build more technical (programming) skills. I’d like to do product work in the end

I recently interviewed for a small strat consulting company (energy industry). I have 3 YoE and would be moving from engineering. the HR person asked me what my salary expectations were I was caught offguard and said I would expect it to be at least what I make now (around 100k). Im now worried theyll lowball me because I really shouldve asked for 120+bonus (I think this is market rate?) But they have salary bands they follow right? So if they pay consultants 140 usually would they offer me 100k?

Reorgs are just a part of the corporate world. If you haven’t been a part of one in your career yet, then you most likely haven’t been in the corporate workforce for very long. If you have been a part of a reorg, however, how do you personally approach it? There are many factors at play, but in general do you try to establish relationships with the individuals you know will be key contributors and/or decision makers going forward? Or do you lay low and let what ever happens be/hope for the best?

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

What would you choose & why?
