I started over in PI after 15 years of practice doing something completely different. It was the best move I ever made.
Sounds to me like you’ve already decided not to do it and that you’re coming on here looking for opinions to validate your decision. You will be out of your comfort zone for a while but your friend is correct that the work is not that difficult. But it does require commitment and a fairly high risk tolerance. I can tell you that after a very short period of time I was getting 8 figure verdicts and am now living a lifestyle I didn’t previously think was possible. I’m talking multiple homes and private plane with an insanely reasonable work life balance. Few other practices offer that possibility. Good luck whatever you decide.
It’s a no brainer, go the personal injury route. You have more potential to make more in the long run. What is the fee split plus the base?
I don’t know the fee split, but she said it’s common to make $500K+, but there’s no partnership track. I feel unless you’re partner, you’re not going to have the lifestyle as indicated by Partner 1 above. I don’t need to have multiple homes, I just want to pay off my current home and be able to retire before age 70,.
