My firm has a collections budget (80% of your billable rate x 1850 hours) and an hourly budget that must be met in order to be eligible for a bonus. The firm cares very little about originations and will reward someone for making their collections over someone who brings in new work. I missed my collection budget due to some odd timing with a client, but originated more than all my peers so no bonus for me. I’ve been at this same mid level firm for 9 years and it’s all I know. Is this normal??
As an experienced hire, will my raises be any lower if I came in at a relatively high salary? ACN/CD&O/SA with 4 YOE
Have a hr round with accenture for management level 9. Do i need to ask for joining bonus or they provide it themselves. How much can i expect or ask.
Is it worth making the move from EY Tax SM3 to KPMG managing director? Is this a lateral move? What salary should I expect (MCOL)?
Anyone who changed the career frm tech to something else aftr 8+ yrs of exp ? Thinking to shoot for mba nxt yr (by thn I wud be 29, and salary ~130k ). Nt sure, wt my options cud be, except tech again
I am in the process of transferring internally to EYP, but received an offer from a small/boutique financial consulting firm with a 30% bump in base comp (and a significant bonus at year end). I was never planning on staying in consulting for longer than a couple more years, but how much is the brand at EYP going to benefit me in the future vs a relatively unknown (but reputable) firm focusing on a niche market? I am extremely conflicted.
Any tips for negotiating salary? This is my second job out of college and I have almost 2 YOE. Didn’t negotiate for my first job and I felt like I was being underpaid.
Cross posted from Personal Investment Chatter. Am I stupid for making an offer on a house with the following financials: Total comp ~$340k/ take home annually after taxes etc ~$188k. House is $830k, put $215k down. Monthly mortgage of $4040 inc. principal/interest/taxes/insurance. I have no other debt and liquid non-retirement savings of ~$240k after the down payment. The numbers seem to work but I am nervous.
What are your thoughts on negotiating a salary for an internal promotion? My boyfriend thinks that I absolutely have to negotiate, but I’m inclined to just accept the first offer... am I doing myself a disservice?
Start up job offer in hand- what criteria (outside of comp) would you use to decide whether to take it?
Does anyone from Alvarez and Marsal have any TC info for first year analysts as well as analyst salary progression? Curious about what base and bonus have looked like in the past, specifically for the healthcare group (HIG). Also interested in seeing what comp for other A&M groups look like for analysts.
Bonus number? Anyone?
What is the designation and salary bracket in DUSI Advisory cybersecurity for yoe 7 years ? ( will negotiate accordingly)
Let’s see how this goes...any small to mid-sized firms offering fully remote positions that someone wants to refer me to? DM if so. I love where I work but I’m questioning whether or not this is the right place for me to become a partner. I’m open to seeing what’s out there. Prefer a base salary of at least $150K, will consider something slightly lower depending on fit. Not to toot my own horn, but I’m a high performer with strong leadership, technical, communication, and training skills.
I am an L10 at @Accenture and got an offer from BXTI @Blackstone in NYC. Accenture: 3 years in Infrastructure, 82K base, stable hours, WFH Blackstone: 110K base, 10K sign-in bonus - on negotiations to 140K base, 20K bonus, hybrid I am finishing my MBA in a year, aspiring to work in cybersecurity. I am waiting for JPMC and Mastercard follow-up after initial interviews. Shall I jump?
Is 2080 billable hours a year standard for small firms. About 70k/year salary? Just wondering if this is strange
Can anyone provide some insight on what it’s like to work in the legal department at a FAANG? Very curious to learn more about comp, WLB, types of matters, etc.
In a coding interview, let's say at FAANG+, would it be OK to import third party libraries? I'm thinking in particular for data structures that are not in Python that people build themselves typically ( Linked list, Max heap). My thinking is that in some another languages, some of these structures are already built in. This assumes that the question is not specifically about building the data structure in question.
Any recommendations for how to do French to English official diploma translations for immigration purposes?
I’m currently in my last semester for my Masters in Data Science and received an offer from Deloitte for a risk and financial advisory analyst role within the AI and Analytics team. TC will be above 90k. Deloitte is definitely expanding their efforts in the Machine Learning field but not sure if I should keep looking for a more traditional tech company. I have 1 year research in Data Science and would appreciate any input! Thanks in advance.
What firms do you think do the best job of staffing wherein you're able to get off the bench easily have the most flexibility in choosing projects outside your team?
Hello Fishes, I have an interview scheduled for Gartner next week for Associate Data Scientist. If anyone who recently gave interview for Gartner, please can you tell me about the things I need to prepare for and also what is Gartner offering for this role to a 2.5 YOE in Machine learning & Data Science.
Has anyone faced difficulties in getting their H1B renewed of late owing to changes being brought by the Trump's administration? Thoughts please!
What is Consultant level salary at ADL like in Dubai office? By C1 - C3 if possible. Glassdoor has one data point at AED 29k
NYC vs Chicago - considering moving out of NYC (obvious reasons :-)), though we love the city and like diversity and energy for our kids to grow up (no suburbs). Any thoughts/experience on Chicago?
A friend of mine is dealing with addiction in her family. Does anyone know of good zoom nar anon meetings?
Does deloitte pay out all your unused PTO when you leave the firm? I may be moving to a new company and I'm trying to look this up.
I got hired to work as a 9-5. Will I work more if there is a need because we have tight deadlines? Absolutely, but don’t expect me to do so all the time and be available on the weekends. Why is it being celebrated to turn into a slave for a firm that doesn’t care about you anyways? Had a boss that was proud that he worked 60+ and also worked when he took vacation leave. Am I being oversensitive?
Can my spouse and I have two separate green card applications? My employer is filing mine and we are are in the perm stage (I have a an approved i-140 from a previous job) and I will be using the cross-charging rule for the final stage. For my spouse it would be either through their employer or the GC lottery and they would just start the process now. What are the pros and cons of having multiple applications? Anyone have experience with this?

Relative to Manhattan, is $435 a reasonable hotel rate for firm travel? There are some cheaper options (Fairfield Inn and such), but would anyone bat an eye at this rate? I don’t travel often. 🤷♀️
I got a job offer at Apple and I’m so conflicted. I nor my boyfriend are just thrilled to live in California, but this opportunity is incredible. He is not willing to move with me or be long distance so I’d be in a position to where this could not only impact my relationship but I could also miss out on a job opportunity of a lifetime. Any advice? I am feeling like I’m picking between my career and relationship. It sucks. For context, we’ve been together 2 years and live together.
Hi Fishes, Would like to know what are some of the best companies one should aim to work for being a PO, would like to know what companies have good culture and in-house programs for employee development.
Would any veterans currently with consulting firms be willing to do a resume review and if warranted an internship recommendation? Thank you
