So, how is the industry going these days? I exited two years ago from a mid market firm and now I’m a c-suite executive at a mid market company. I’ve been approached to join a nearly $1 billion firm as a partner and build out a practice. Sounds kind of interesting and honestly I’m a bit bored. Any thoughts?

What’s your comp comparison and how much do you enjoy your WLB now versus what it might be like to build out a practice?

That’s the thing, I really enjoy my life right now. I have loads of free time. I’ve never had that before. I have so much free time compared to the rest of my career, I’m nervous that I’m not doing enough.

Can you sell and make numbers every year in the industry you will operate in ? Then it’s good.

Yes, although that would be only 25% of my responsibility. The rest would be building a team, building the deliverables, overseeing clients and programs and projects.

Exactly what others said. Do you have a strong network of people you can sell your services to or the firm you’ll be joining has strong relationships. If not, it’d be very difficult. Feel free to DM

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.
