So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
Layoffs at CDM ... again
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Performance plans or in a firm I worked at called it PIP, Performance improvement plan which specifies a specific number of days with objectives etc. that the employee has to achieve.
I feel like this is a way of HR to protect themselves to avoid any legal liability on wrongful termination or discrimination etc.
Yeah I feel like you should protect yourself and make plans to move on.
If you sincerely like this job and feel like the feedback you have been given is clear and actionable then you can try to satisfy the plan but in my experience these are “last resort” letters designed to protect the company and do not help the employee.
I would start searching for a new job.
