They invented a new word for Second Life just to revitalize it a little.
But soon enough, “Metaverse” will sound like “Globalized”
The metaverse is boring. I’d be wary of putting ad dollars in there until they actually come up with something *uniquely fun* to do in there.
we’re looking at the idea of the “metaverse” as beyond facebook. more like how to use open worlds like fortnite, roblox, minecraft, etc. in addition to facebook’s metaverse.
it’s just second life, 15 years later.
Todays agencies wont make those departments, that work will stay at production studios who are already doing VR work direct to client like Mediamonks
The question is optimistic about agencies’ ability, willingness, or even interest to adapt. Agencies had like 20-30 years to figure out how to build websites, and 10-13 years to figure out how to build apps. How did that go? Now they have had at least 5 years to get moving in a serious way with 3D/AR/VR and it’s probably too late to start. There are companies already doing 3D/AR/VR direct to client. This happened with websites, then with apps, and it’s happening again.

I dunno everyone, Facebook or I mean “Meta” are pumping out commercials already for immersive worlds. Yeah maybe now it seems elementary and boring but in a year when we’re living inside West World, I want to be in the forefront of the new internet
