How about when they lie and tell you they chose another candidate — and then immediately relist the position? Had that happen to me years ago.
At least have the guts to tell me “sorry, not a fit.”
Couldn't agree more! It's beyond inconsiderate. Says a lot about them.
^^yup. I’ll name names.
We Are Unlimited did this to me.
This is complete bullshit. I was ghosted after two interviews and a “they love you and want you to come in next week”. Crickets. I’ve told a bunch of folks about the place so they’ll lose some potential talent but they won’t know it’s hopefully destroying their reputation.
Can you name names? Seems like an anonymous forum like this would be a good place to share the info. Then at least other people wouldn’t feel so bad if they were ghosted by the same place.
DDB most recently. But it's happened before. Ogilvy did it to me last year.
I'll never work at McCann cuz they did that to me as a junior 12 years ago.
Any recruiting peeps or HR folks on here to explain this? Ugh
Edelman did that to me. Worst recruiter I’ve interacted with to date.
Edelman. Walton issacson. Starcom. Several others including non agencies
Edelman is the worst
I will say Grey did a good job. I interviewed for the company months before I started. Kept interviewing with different teams and the HR rep was good about being open and emailing me or calling me to explain that a team went with another person for X reason (usually just overall fit with personalities) and would suggest another team to interview with. A couple times of that and I got hired. I appreciated that the HR rep was honest and kept me updated
Weber Shandwick did this to me. Two rounds of interviews and then NOTHING
We’re in Q4. Desperate times, desperate measures. At certain types of employers. Where you don’t want to be at anyway. Send them a note thanking them for that.
I agree, take the high road and move on. You MUST remember that even though it's a waste of your time you can't get attached to the job. Yes they should let you know, yes it's the decent thing to do - but in business nobody is obligated.
Ugh this is the worst!!! And then you have to relive the rejection again when other people who know you interviewed ask you about it.
We Are Unlimited did that to me too!!
Sorry you didn’t get your salary negotiation offer before ghosting them.
@Grey1 agreed. Lucy Hayes and the rest of them at Grey kill it. Most recruiters elsewhere stay in touch about as well as an estranged Dad who went to “buy cigarettes” and never came home.
OMD did this to me a while back... Wasn't for WAU but feeling better now
