Solid career ideas for a math teacher who is seriously considering leaving the profession this summer? At this point teaching feels like bashing my head against a brick wall every day, and I know my students deserve more from me than they're getting.

If you are done teaching, I suggest not trying to figure it out in one stroke. Take your time and figure out if you can make changes to solve what is actually bothering you about your job.
I was so burnt out over the last 5 years, that I was sure my career was over.
I spent most of those years developing a plan to escape but not being able to move quickly. We took years prioritizing finances to have the room for me to go back to university to become an accountant or something similar.
I was 1 year out from being able to resign when My site became so toxic I had to move, turns out it wasn't my passion to teach that had died, it was my campus, along with my district and it's leadership.

I now teach in a charter school that is pretty great; and it has me thinking I can continue to do my good work a little longer, while I'm under better conditions, and making more money.
In the interim, I reduced my $ liabilities by being very frugal and now have much more financial freedom. My wife and I can walk away from it all in 2 years or anytime after that and not have to worry about what's next. Even though we are both at 12 years from being able to collect any kind of pension.

I wish you luck with finding your path.

Have you considered financial planning?

I changed from public school to for profit private school.
Whole different world there.
I love it.

Hi Everyone - I was hoping someone could throw some light on the kind of work trust and safety does. I see a lot of open roles - managers, senior strategists etc. I have a top 20 MBA and about 8 years of big 4 experience in consulting - would this be the right kind of role to get into? Or is it more engineering?

Hello everyone!
I recently found out that I was being paid less than everyone in the team (more than 25% gap to more expe teammates, around 15% less than new hires)
We all had the same responsibilities, I consider I even had a heavier workload (talking in past tense since I very recently made an internal move).
Things to consider:
On a work visa
Non-white
Non-male
What would you recommend doing?
Keeping it to myself?
Speaking up? How? With who?

-TIA

Hey all! I went through the interviewing process with a company and we had a verbal agreement on X amount of salary per year. They liked me and extended an offer but the offer was for $15K less than what we agreed bc that’s what HR approved for. I was desperate so I took it. Accepting this offer meant that I had to relocate to the other side of the country. Omw that was 2500 miles, I received a call that they rescinded the offer. Is there anything legal that I can do to sue them?

What would u do in this "hypothetical" scenario.
1. Student gets 95 percentile on standardized tests in 1st grade.
2. 2nd gr teacher, capable and flexible but a little old school.
3. Parent, from foreign country, wants us to teach 2 years ahead of where student is at in math and reading in case they have to return to other country.
4. District's old standard for acceleration is at the 97th+ percentile and other students are much more"advanced".
5. Parent wants detailed steps for teacher's plan

I’m teaching summer school at a high school, and the co-principals have asked me to focus on only 2 to 3 chapters worth (what they are calling “2-3 standards” in the eight days of summer semesters. However, they are also asking me to give kids the midterm and/or final at the end of each period, which covers 4-5 chapters each semester. My question is this: “Is it legal by California Ed code for the administration to ask me to teach less than each entire semester, yet test each whole semester?”

I found using GoFormative’s free version to be very helpful in teaching new topics to my students. I embed videos I make demonstrating how to complete a question, next I ask them to complete an example showing work, and then the next question they type their answer so it automatically alerts them to see if they answered correctly. It can be used live in a meet and on an independent virtual day. In my google meets, I’m able to give feedback on any question they have trouble with in real time.
