SOS just got two dream offers.

One is for an associate position at a small venture capital fund (very good profile, think fund will be successful lt) other is product strategy at a large AM (think GS, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, JP Morgan).

Comp is about the same but would get carry at the VC firm. Leaning towards the non-VC role as I like the org and think I could be very successful in it, but am I dumb not to take the VC role??

What’s the hiring market like in Texas for a 4th year investment management associate? I’m interested in Austin but understand there may be more opportunities in Houston or Dallas. Graduated with honors and on law review at a T14, if that helps at all.

Negotiation in new offer: I’m moving from fully remote to fully in office (with chance of hybrid later) offer for associate director in quality in pharma for 170k base, 18% bonus and 75k equity. If you were me and your goal was to maximize your net worth by retirement, would you put a few thousand dollars extra into paying down the house faster or invest that extra money in the market?
