So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Not a loser Dad if you were trying your hardest. More of a hero in my eyes.
You are NOT a loser dad! You’re working so hard to take care of your family. You got this. I’m rooting for you.
Thanks for sharing. Finishing ad school the month lockdown started, I was honestly worried my career was over before it really started.
Going over 6 months without even an interview took it’s toll. Luckily, I kept up speed and things eventually picked up.
Still picking up, but man, it’s been such a slow climb.
Same thing here!! All in the long game
Congratulations 👏🏻 It must have been a really hard time but your resilience paid off, good for you!
Thoughts on permalance vs full-time?
I think some obvious pros are being able to work remotely and not having to move to where the company is…with the main con being no healthcare, stock options, or other perks of being FT…and sort of having to work hours like a full timer and take on whatever new jobs they throw at you, which is technically “scope creep” if it were a traditional freelance situation.
In other words, if this weren’t such a longer term security kind of thing relative to other freelance jobs, it wouldn’t be cool that they hired me to work on X project, and then (once they “had me”) suddenly added projects 1,2,3,4 and asked me to help run their internal creatives and look at other peoples work etc. But in this case it is cool because the trade-off is knowing that I will be making exactly $X per month for X number of months moving forward. And IMO job and $ security > technically it being “scope creep”…especially since we’re making fun work that’ll go into my book for sure, so that if this doesn’t stay long term, I at least have some good stuff to show for it.
You love to hear it. Well done!

Thanks all. Honestly wasn’t posting that for pats on the back although I appreciate them. It was more to just let anyone who is in a similar situation know that you never stay “knocked down” for long.
