Started working LinkedIn a couple of weeks ago as a contractor but just got reached out by Microsoft for a Sr PM position and passed the initial interview with the Hiring Manager. Now I’m booked for the final round of interviews and I don’t know how to feel.

Atlanta people! I’m in the process of applying for MBA programs and wanted to ask what recruiting is like for MBB from Emorys program? Is there a reasonable shot at getting into the Atlanta office from Emory, or are those openings primarily filled by other schools (Duke, UVA, etc.)

Only thing I would be nervous about (which may be irrational) is that Microsoft owns LinkedIn. I’m not sure if they share certain HR systems and could tell if you’re job hopping / costing them money. Probably not if you’ve reached that stage though. Kind of surprised the recruiter was cool with seeing a couple weeks at LinkedIn on your resume unless you left it off, but I’m a nervous Nellie lol
One from MSFT here. Members choose to move from one MSFT Org to another (e.g. github, linkedin) and the whole process is managed separately. MSFT owned shouldnt be a concen here. Good luck.
Ultimately you need to look out for yourself and do what's best for you. There's a reason you still took the interview after starting at LinkedIn, which means you're interested. If your heart says to take the Microsoft role then do it.
LinkedIn hired you as a contractor for a reason - they don't want to pay you benefits and you'll also be the first person to cut if they need to let people go. It's less paperwork.
Is the LinkedIn role your dream job? If yes then that's the only reason I would say you should stay. If not then take the leap to Microsoft!
Definitely wouldn’t look back
No decision to make now. Kill the interview, get the offer. Then leave and never look back. FTE position has many more benefits vs TVC
You have to do what’s best for you and your future!!
I would snatch up the offer in a heartbeat. Actual FT role vs. contract? No comparison there.
You don’t owe anything to LinkedIn, they can fire you anytime and you can leave anytime. So go for full time role at Microsoft and put your heart and soul into the interview
FTE if you want progression and bigger responsibilities / opportunities to grow. It’s painful for first year or so earning less but worth it long term
No brainer then
Take the position and don't look back!
Don't worry to much about the process. Like many said, get the role after you can consider your option.
I would think it’s almost better that they are related companies. I think it’s quite common for employees to hop between the two. Sounds like you should take it if the only con is having to leave early from LinkedIn. Who knows you could always come back to LinkedIn later!
See if LinkedIn will give you a counter-offer for FTE position. If they do, then you have a better problem solve. If they don't, then you know what company / team actually values you.
Go for it!!!
Take it!!!
I know if you were on my team as a contractor, and got an FTE role, I'd be nothing but happy for you. Take that step up!
Take it! I can’t wait for you to give LinkedIn thanks but I got a FT opp somewhere else! You got it.
In today’s market and workforce you need to look out for you because no one else will
I have worked at LinkedIn as contractor as well, there's always maybe but you can't never look back. If position is offered from Microsoft or other company with benefits then you should do it.
Kinda weird since MSFT owns LinkedIn
Take it and don’t look back, there shouldn’t be a person out there that would fault you for taking a FTE position with benefits
