What is the value of / case for hiring a wealth manager with management fees (say 1% of holdings) as opposed to investing directly in ETFs/index funds yourself (through any of the brokers like Fidelity, Vanguard, etc.)?

Base is at 180k, after tax, insurance , 401k and ESPP (max out), my bi-weekly pay is only like 3600 (like 8000 monthly). Can people really save this kind of money, or most people rely on their stock appreciation?

I have some collections on my credit report. One from an electric company for $800 (imo they violated terms of contract and sent me to collections in spite of their fuck up), and an apartment for $80~ that charged me a cleaning fee when my apartment was spotless.

Despite these two collections have a 712-720 credit score.

So mortgage lenders care at all about the collections or is it mostly the credit score that matters?

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

For Plaintiff's attorneys, how big is your caseload? What kind of cases are the majority of them and are they in suit? Sent 2 policy limits demands. Adjuster offered $60k both times because they don’t see a “causal relationship” without offering us any articulated supporting facts.

The insured is a Radiologist, he appears to own a home valued over $2M.
