Tell me it's okay to address this. The customer service pit, as we call it, is directly across from me, so I can see everything these people are doing. One of the CSRs loves to go barefoot. She will kick off her shoes and act like it's the most normal thing on the planet. She will even get up from her desk and walk around barefoot. This is driving me nuts, and I can't think of anything more unprofessional than not wearing shoes in the office. Can I call her out?

How do her feet look?

funny

Just rig up a webcam and start an OF feed for her but with the money going to your account. People will pay good money to just look at feet - god knows why!

I don't like feet, lol so this would bug me as well. Can you talk to their supervisor or someone who has authority over this person

You could, politely, tell her that you don’t like it; but, like…why would she care about your opinion?

like

I don’t know, it really depends on your office’s policy. If your CSRs interact with clients in the office, barefoot would be a no-no to me; if it’s all contact via phone/email/Zoom or whatever, and the office management doesn’t have a firm policy, then it’s probably OK (although I would still discourage it).

I could care less….

Couldn’t

I thought there were OSHA shoe requirements. They are less commonly everywhere now, but staples, man. Ow. 😬

I’ve had to pull staples to run scans. My last long term role I left in April 2024 still had 2 weekly check runs in some very aged software and stapled and filed all the backups in a vault. I’d love to see everyone actually GO paperless, but the reality is still too often major tech lag and very manual legacy systems. Congrats if YOU aren’t encountering staples day to day or embedded in the carpeting, or handling old raggedy stapled packets of docs for auditors! 🤷
