You say thank you for reaching out and that you’d love to connect to hear more about the company’s needs. Suggest some times that work for you. Ask them to follow up if any of those times work for them.
To level set, this is a great sign and a first step in the right direction. But there’s nothing that indicates this email was tailored for you—they could have sent 5 or 50 of the same emails on the same day for one open role. Now it’s on you to respond quickly (within 24 hours), show interest and appreciation. I’d suggest responding with windows you’re available to chat (morning on this day, after on this day, or any time this day) and let them get back to you with a specific time or two that works. If you don’t hear back right away, don’t worry. Follow up in a week.
“Suitable?” Dream agency or not, who the hell says that? Smh.
It is VERY British. Do not assume negative. It’s a global company I’m sure ;)
Is it Wieden?
Actually, yes.
It's W+K Delhi. Not sure if it has the same rep as the Portland/NYC offices but I am still super stoked that they reached out.
Assuming from the language here it’s a UK agency. Dare you share which one? Say that yes, you’d be definitely open to a conversation. That you love the work they recently did on X. That you’re free on Tuesday between 3– 4 p.m. and all day Wednesday. Your number is 07 xxxxxxxxx.
If this person is British and you’re not, lay off phrases like ‘reach out’ or anything too gushing.
He/ she may have sent this to many potential candidates. So don’t get your hopes up, but having a conversation is always a good idea. Good luck, and keep us posted! 😊
Thank you everyone for helping out.
I really appreciate it 🙌🏼
To the ones wondering about the wording, I received this from the agency's New Delhi, India office.
Same. They often times learn British English vs US grammar.
What’s a dream agency?
It’s kinda like a dream factory only they work on retainer.
It’s fantastic you got the email of your dream agency.
Just reply and say your flattered she reached out and would love to schedule time to learn more about the agency and role. Doesn’t hurt to let her know you are a big fan of the agency.
Senior VP, the HR Manager is a She.
Your assumption was correct.
Best bet they need to urgently fill a spot so hr is cold DM’ing a few people (or a bunch) on LinkedIn that seem “suitable” to interview.
That’s cool. You get an interview out of this with HR and hopefully that leads to an interview with a hiring manager at some point. Good luck, stay positive, but sounds like you got some steps ahead of you. That said, getting into the interview process through an internal HR recruiter can help locking the gig, because they are more likely to be your advocate if they pass you along.
I would say nothing is in the bag until you have a contract to sign.
Thanks for the all the feedback, everyone. Here's an update.
So far, I've had a chat with the HR person about my background and all. They still haven't mentioned what the exact role is (is that weird?). They said they would be sharing my portfolio with the CD and will get back to me by this week, if they're still interested.
