There are no internal positions open right now that fit the natural pathway for my role to seek a promotion. 😅 Should I wait it out, or look externally? I've been here for a while and I'm hesitant to start over...

Start looking externally while you wait to hear on any internal openings. If no openings come internally, but you have applied externally, it will give you a headstart and you might find something better than where you are currently. Never limit yourself, there is so much more out there. How will you know the endless opportunities without trying to apply externally

Thank you for the advice!

Yeah I agree with the above. The job market is tough right now, so it could take a while to get interviews or offers, but I do really think the best way to move up is to move externally, both in terms of your role and your salary

like

It's a daunting idea but I can't deny the logic anymore

like

If there are no internal opportunities and you’re ready for growth, it’s worth exploring external options while keeping an eye on internal openings. Starting over can be daunting, but it might lead to new opportunities. Weigh the potential benefits against your current satisfaction before deciding.

Just don't rush

Hi Fishes,
What do you think is a good company to have a better exposure to risk management with prior 10 years of experience in operations. Does this carrier path change help optimise opportunities? Or creating path in operations is good?
