He’s going down a slippery slope without realizing it, so I would.
Yes, it would be nice of you to pull him aside and let him know how bad the optics are.
Coach
good for him; is he taking the leftovers home??
I agree
You should as a courtesy and if he doesn’t appreciate it then it’s on him
Dude getting free food from a multi-billion dollar organization. What will those partners do without that $100 in food? Times must be tough.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I would leave it alone. Self-awareness can be developed, but it’s rarely fixed by a one-off convo. If this associate truly has a self-awareness problem, the lunch orders are probably just a symptom of something deeper. Unless you’re responsible for mentoring or evaluating him, I’m not sure this is something I’d get involved in.

This is basically my mindset as a 6th year. Spoiler: all the summers are going to resteraunts chosen by me b/c I get an extra 5% cash back on them.

Who cares?
Theres a 7th year in my office who is constantly pilfering the food supply. She also frequently talks about how expensive things are.
The firm is not going to suffer because a first year orders a few extra entrees/sides for a couple of months.
I know the firm isn’t going to suffer (truly the least of my concerns). My concern was that associate will suffer if no one else is looking out for them. But this post has convinced me that it’s not worth it so I’ll just leave it alone

If it’s under the budget who cares?

Jfc what a bunch of uptight people here. By people definitely talking about it - is it you doing all the talking?
We’re adults here. Let people be and let them make their own “mistakes”. If he does good work and gets shit done, no one will care and you just look like a busy body. It’s summer lunches, they are supposed to be stupid and splurgy.
Let a partner handle it.
Tell him to order more because it shows confidence
Only if they are worth keeping around/bringing back after summer lol
Under or over budget?
