There’s been some pushback from recruiters lately defending the practice of ghosting. But how do you explain just not calling for an interview you set up? (cont)

We get it, you can’t respond to every single email, but when a creative has to weasel their way into a conference room or coffee shop for 30 minutes just to have a conversation with you during the weekday the least you can do is show up.

How about a recruiter who’d rather frequent social media with very non-recruiting oriented posts than write you back a simple “we’re all good for now.”?

I’m actually fairly certain I’ve seen the same recruiter post nonsense on this app, if my judging by tone of voice is accurate at all

There’s no excuse for ghosting. If you were an account person who couldn’t keep up with simple email management/basic acknowledgement emails to client and other requests, you’d be fired within 3 months.

There was that article yesterday or Tuesday on ghosting, interviews with name recruiters, and it didn’t seem like they were defending ghosting, per se—but rather they were explaining what in their world could lead them to unintentionally (not meanly or vindictively) ghosting someone or in some cases what candidates had done to increase their chances of being ghosted. But no one ever mentioned setting up an actual live coffee meeting and simply blowing it off...that’s fn despicable and amateur hour. 👎🏽

I too was on some the hunt for some anti ghosting tips. 😞 but, I hear you...it wasn’t without funny bits for sure. The guy could turn a phrase, but it was a little too Tom Robbins-y for my liking.

No excuses. They are part of Human Resources. Their job is based on interpersonal skills and cultivating relationships with people.

Hey everyone. Recently interviewed at a registered investment advisor, 10 person shop. What’s everyone’s views on hand written thank you notes vs emails post first round interview? Both people I met with gave me their business cards without me asking which I think is a good sign. Usually like doing emails vs hand written notes because you can get a response or further conversation vs possibly not hearing anything from a hand written note.

I feel like using star method in interviews in overrated. I stopped using STAR and finally started to get offers. It’s better to be genuine and let the conversation flow than to stick to a structure. Thoughts? Maybe I just got lucky.

What is the parental leave policy at your firm? Please include: (1) size of firm; (2) location of firm; (3) how many paid weeks off (from firm - not state/fed); (4) other perks, such as ramp up/down time, etc.

I go on maternity leave soon, and my firm offers 16 weeks paid leave, which I plan to fully take advantage of. The only female shareholder in our office keeps pushing me to only take 6 weeks though, because that's what she did. I feel really put off by her comments, but its also making me feel guilty about taking the full time. This is mostly a vent, but if anyone wants to give me some words of wisdom or thoughts, I will take them!
