Is it possible she has an invisible illness that was flaring up before the flight but was more manageable afterwards? Using a wheelchair doesn't mean you can't use your legs at all. I have several friends will disabilities like this so I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt.
I dated a woman who had cystic fibrosis. She looked completely normal could walk, fully mobile, etc. However, she would tire quickly and often used the wheelchair for situations she had to walk a lot.
It was surprising, the angry looks we would get when after putzing in the wheel chair she would stand up and walk away. Like we we're doing something so horrible.
You need to stop. I have a disability and do early boarding all of the time. Also, the airline often forces the wheelchair on you when you are doing disability boarding. Honestly, please, I cannot tell you how f*cking difficult it can be for some with invisible disabilities to travel, especially ones with neurological issues like MS in a highly stimulating environment. It’s fair that you might not have gotten it at first, but I have now explained it so please refrain from future comments like this. They cut deep
You kind of made your own point tbh
Results vary though. I heard about this one guy who got on the plane fine. He ended up having to be dragged off the plane and was bleeding
Full disclosure; a couple years back, we faked a buddy’s leg injury to skip ahead cause we were late for his bachelor party flight. Miraculously his leg was healed by the time we landed in the Dominican..
There is a person at my gym who parks her Porsche in handicapped parking, then goes in to do high intensity interval training for 1 hour, followed by 30 minutes on the treadmill. I’ve given up trying to understand it
What type? If it's a Panamera or Cayenne that makes sense
A flight attendant friend of mine calls these Jet-bridge-Jesus miracles
My MIL doesn’t speak or read English and can not navigate the airport. The only way for her to get assistance is by requesting wheelchair assistance. She isn’t handicapped by any means and hates the wheelchair, but we really don’t have much choice
pwc1-they are cold as ice
So full disclosure. I’m about 98% deaf..... have removed that from my profile so they don’t give me a wheelchair. D2: I empathize and apologize if you are hurt by this thread. I would contend that the problem is with individuals who abuse the fact that we are a tolerant society which seeks to support those who, for whatever reason, need a little more support.
Probably. I’ve had to turndown a wheelchair twice. I had to cut out all travel for over a year. I was so thankful for disability boarding when I was getting my life back and back into travel
I saw a guy that was limping and as soon as he passed the gate, his limp mysteriously dissapeared.
OP, I find your post insulting. My mother has been battling cancer for the past eleven years. She needs to have treatments for the rest of her life if I will get to spend more time with her. Sure, she seems healthy. Sure, she can walk some distances. She cannot, though, navigate the distances between the UD terminals without being exhausted. So she requests a wheelchair. Now, I am sorry that my mother or someone like my mother boarded before you. Her medical condition means she struggles to carry her carry on so she did not take up the valuable overhead space, so you can chill. You will still be able to store your Tumi over your seat and make fun of my mother for taking a few steps after being confined in a seat for so many hours. #sarcasm
Let me just say this. For every person that has abused the wheelchair system there are dozens that need it and cannot travel to see their loved ones without it. I, for one, I am grateful that my mum can travel and spend valuable time with me. I suggest you keep your entitled comments to you and let the people that need the help get it with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Laziness is a serious medical condition
You make an excellent point, and yes, a dynamic disorder such as you described would be a perfectly legitimate rationale.
Perhaps it’s just me being cynical, but she did beat me up the jet bridge, along the walkways, and into immigration (about a 20 min walk).
You’re a consultant.... evaluate that a little more ;)
Last week I saw a guy with very dark sunglasses and a white cane slowly walk over and line up for early boarding. The minute he passed over the threshold into the jet bridge he didn’t need to use his cane and speedily strolled along, adeptly passing the woman in front of him
I had stitches in the top and bottom of my foot and had 4 flights in 48 hours. Dr. instructed me not to walk on it despite me wanting to look otherwise able bodied as a 24 year old traveling for work. I had decided to request a wheelchair for certain ends of certain legs if I thought the walk would be long, though in hindsight I should’ve swallowed my pride and used one 100% of the time.
Wow. That sounds like someone I know who regularly pulls this shit
