Thinking of joining EY as a hybrid employee, I heard they have a well being fund. Is this still a thing? What are the basics that it covers?

Yes there is still a fund. It covers a lot of different things, travel (hotel and airfare), gym memberships, exercise equipment, etc.

It's $1k if that helps.

PwC to EY:

Prior used car sales experience is a plus
Buy some loud Untuckit shirts
Way too much men’s hair product is OK
Bring out all your gold chains
Your bonus was spent on Mt Everest….

“What’s it gonna take to get you into this tax return today?”

Keep PwC recruiter number on your phone

EY1, TD is just providing tongue in cheek quotes of what OP should expect to hear from time to time as an EY employee.

Another thing to keep in mind. EY only pays $60 a month for cell phone. PwC I think pays more, plus paying for new phone?

Interesting, those are good points thanks!!

EY also has a WOW fund of up to $500 a year which could be used for mileage to and from office or parking fees at the office.

EY is building a better working world. How do you put a price on that?

E4, can you expand on this?

Our marketing tagline the last few years was "EY - building a better working world."

So I was making a joke that your request about monetary benefits pales in comparison to the great work we do for the world.

International tax senior associate- Deloitte

I have an interview with Deloitte next week for senior associate Internacional tax in California. How much salary I should expect? I am sure this question will come up and I don't want to underbelly myself. Currently I am a senior at other Big4.

I like my current job, company and public accounting. I know I am being underpaid at $70k as a senior tax associate with 2-3 years of experience as I have talked with my local peers as well as local recruiters. Also, I know outside hires to my company get paid about $5-$10k higher than me, but they don’t get a raise the following year. My question is what is everyone’s experience with company hopping to get a pay bump within public accounting?

I’m having trouble working in Tax. I’m overwhelmed and am feeling like I’m not producing my best work. I want to talk to someone at work about it but a) I don’t know who to go to and b) feel like it’s not worth it because there’s nothing that anyone can do but tell me to get a different job. I feel like I SHOULD say something to someone though, right? Idk. I’ve been on the job hunt for a while now and am not really having any luck, which is just adding to my despair. What should I do?

Compliance question here, I have always thought of the SALT deduction on the fed return as a perm item & have treated as such in such sch M-3. I see that some people put it as a temp on sch M-3. What is the justification for treating it as a temp on the M-3. You don’t set up a deferred on the def RF for the state tax deduct & it is also a rate impacting item (I know that some temps can be rate impacting). But this all leaves me to side with perm. Does anyone know the logic behind temp treatment?

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?

I know I'm in the minority here (and I swear this isn't a brag) but is anyone else less stressed this busy season working from home, and finding issues focusing because of it? My work is getting done, but just very very slowly. I'm able to sleep throughout the night and not wake up early (which is a huge negative right now) and literally feel no need to stay glued to my computer as in prior years. Am I broken?
