This is a me thing, but I honestly never want to hear any tips or judgements about WFH [during a pandemic] unless the author has small children that need constant supervision and care*

I'm so beat, I don't want to hear a goddamn word about your home office rules or whatever. Congrats, you can shut the door and work in silence for more than 30 minutes at a time. 🎉

(Yes I'm bitter.)

Agreed. We all agreed that we'd love to have a pandemic and throw everything into chaos.

My cat keeps appearing on my zoom meetings.

like

Same

Deal! If you also don’t extend the meeting by talking for 5-10 minutes about “how smart” your 5 year old is.

Ugh the worst

I’m sorry it’s been hard OP.
I can’t imagine having kids in this (H and I were literally just saying “can you imagine if you have to take care of a 4 and 7 year old?” We both agreed we’d probably die or one of us would quit our job).

I don’t have kids but I HAVE billed 165 hours since last Sunday and, well, I also feel like I’m slowly dying. Don’t even have time to make full meals. Can’t imagine what I’d do if I had kids if I can’t even manage to feed myself.

like

Still, I’m pretty sure my hours are easier than having kids. At least I can decide to not make food and when I can’t go to the grocery store (which hasn’t happened in 3 weeks) I don’t have anyone whining that they can’t eat beans for the millionth time. Oh, and when I turn off, I have silence and don’t have to meet other’s needs. Your parent job is def still harder.

like

I'm sure what you are going through is hard, but we are all facing our own difficulties too :)

So post your own complaint then. It's a d1ck move to try to discount OP's rant because "other people".

like

OP: I hear you. It sucks. You’re doing amazing just by keeping everyone alive and still being able to function to some extent for work.

We get it. You don't want to hear it. So if someone tells it to you, just let them. No one's giving WFH advice expecting you to follow it. Be nice. This is not permanent.

I have an offer with Citi, initially it was hybrid model and looks like they are moving back to wfo.. they told only now and I dont have any other offer in hand. due to personal constraints I need wfh or some flexibility types, but they seem a bit rigid as its not in their policy..
Is it good to join and then try pushing them for wfh.. or search for another offer..? 16 yoe, PM...

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Especially now mask mandates are being lifted feeling like we can’t go anywhere without risking our kid.

I am getting ready to send my 2 year old toddler to a toddler program next week for the first time. Have to fill out a form “bathroom waiver”, which is basically allowing teachers at the school to clean my child after a potty, including genital area. I feel uneasy about this but I know I have to let them… I assume all parents have signed such waiver?

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

My mother-in-law says he’s worked on things, but it’s been 10 years of this and I’m not sure I want such behavior around my wife and our kids since we’re trying to conceive soon (cont).
