So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I would highly recommend getting a referral if you can - someone who knows your work and can personally attest to it. A random referral won’t do much.
You may indeed be a very good fit- but Google has some of the highest numbers of applications out there. Meaning that 1) while you may be a great fit, so are others and 2) you’re probably lost in a crush of applications, and a referral at least gets your resume a review.
Good luck!
Correct and good clarification, get a referral from a current Googler.
I would ask if they feel comfortable with it. It’ll be much better than a random one, absolutely.
For context, if we (Googlers) are referring someone, we have to fill out a form stating our level of knowledge with the referrals work and skills. If they’re just friends they may not feel they can attest to that well. But they also may feel otherwise, I really can’t say :)
