Money isn’t the only validation in life that someone is successful. Never forget that.
Kanye is so much genius, i would call this one of his top 5 but there’s definitely a lot of golden words out of his mouth out there
Chinese kid with parent pleasing complex here 👋 Multiple years of therapy has made me realize I’ll never make my mother happy. And even if I do make my mother happy that won’t mean I’m happy.
In general after you hit a certain threshold ( eg can comfortably pay rent, food, clothes) money won’t scale with happiness. Figure out what you want out of life and solve for that
Your 25 and making six figures. You are doing well! Believe in yourself!
This is such a great post!
My mom can’t believe I’m not bumming stogies and selling surfboard wax in Waikiki or someshit - so from my experience, low or high, those expectations cut both ways.
For inflation adjustment, when I was 2 years out of school $100,000 2019 dollars was $66,300. At the time, we would have though $66.3K was kind of meh. So I guess $100K today isn’t that big a deal - hate to break it to everyone but seems like $200K is the new $100K.
Can we all agree that practically speaking, you’re not hitting the caché of six figures until $200K?
Totally depends on location. In NY you can be making 300k and feel like a peasant. In Ohio 100k makes you lord among peasants. Based on the fact that you’re Indian I’m guessing you’re Northeast or West Coast so the salary pressure makes sense.

Finally... at 25... look, you’re young. Comparison is the killer of joy, so just do what you think will make you happiest over the long run.
