House worth 500k, 15 RV, 7k shed, 2k Car

Tons of debt.

Cashed in 401k to start a business that will be very successful in the next 3-5 years.

Taking everything day by day and not worried at all when there is little we can control anymore.

Live your dream, and go for your goals ~

35, two kids under five. 1.5M net worth. 400k of that is in home equity, rest in index fund. No debt besides home

That’s still a solid start and with your HHI income growing - the compounding effect will be even bigger.

I was lucky - I made partner at 31 and earned at least $1M from the first year (most consulting partners don’t until a few years in). I hit $1M NW at 31 (after 10 years of working) and with a high HHI hit $7M at 37 before pulling the plug.

The power of compounding and stock markets is amazing - even 2 years later with zero earned income, our NW has increased by $1.3M despite us spending 50% more in retirement compared to pre-retirement (due to travel and new hobbies).

Just try to avoid too much lifestyle inflation - although I acknowledge it’s tough with kids but still doable.

Good luck!

35 married, $1.2M NW. 350k home equity. Having 2 kids is a major slowdown in FIRE, but setting them up to start debt free.

2 kids here as well. 35k/year in child care and 1k/month into their 529s. All in it’s probably 60k+ per year. It’s brutal. Also the best money I could ever spend.

Career advice and how to earn more is a whole different topic. Of course it helps to make more, and I did in my 30s, but maintained the same relative cost of living I had in my 20s…and committed to doing the same in my 40s.

Mid 40s. NW around 750k

34. Wife is 33. NW 1.6. 400k is home equity. 1.1 in liquid investments. 100k in cash and other assets (paid off cars, etc).

AGC1 pretty crazy reading these numbers. They are almost number for number the same as mine. Congratulations to you! I know what it takes to get here, it's been a lifetime of hard work and discipline.

Between 40-45. Net worth of 700K 😐

We aren’t alone.

35, 2.2M total, 1.8M liquid non retirement

Would like to hit 1M by 35

31. $1m net worth. Very little is liquid.

For those who disclosed your net worth, what is your income and what drove your net worth to be where it is?

See above my response to AGC1 - >$1M HHI when I made partner and avoiding lifestyle inflation. Now we live off passive income of $400k and reinvest any excess to continue growing the nest egg.

39, NW $6M, Liquid $2.8M. Have a fair bit of illiquid real estate investments.

34. 3m NW. 250k liquid. Sr director.

Married. 2 under 2. 600k hhi. 3 homes. Consulting and finance careers.

40. Single. No kids. $1.4m net worth. $200k is my home equity and camper van. Self employed since 2021.

I’m curious why more non-US citizens interested in FIRE don’t go live in a no/low tax jurisdiction even for a few years e.g. Dubai, some Caribbean islands. I get that some people will have family circumstances (e.g. elderly parents to look after) so it won’t be possible for them, but for a significant proportion it will be an option

I’m maxing out my 401K, traditional IRA and HSA this year and paying for some house improvements. I have about $750K total investments and very close to $2M net worth, but realize that I am behind on investments if I want to do FIRE. I was focused on paying off huge chunks of my mortgage and managed to whittle it down to $75K left. Would you suggest I go ahead and pay that off this year? Or pause and do a mega back door roth instead? I’m mid 40s. Thanks!

Does anyone use a brokerage account instead of a checking account? Mine offers a fee free debit/atm card and free checks which I'd rarely use but starting to question whether it is worth maintaining my "big bank" checking account that requires a $1500 minimum balance.

I also have a local credit union checking/savings that I'd use if I need any services or to deposit cash and a HYSA that gets my paycheck, is used for mortgage and credit card payments, and to transfer to checking or investments.
