Comment if you or someone you know makes $200k (could be cash + equity) working 40h/week (at most 50h occasionally) in an industry (not consulting) strategy operations or other business-related role (not product management or software engineering type of techy role), at age 25 or 3 years after undergrad. I know it’s kind of rare but want to know how rare/possible it is. What is their background and company (industry, stage, size, etc.) that got them to this nice position?Boston Consulting Group
I have an initial recruiter phone interview with Square Thursday. Is it it just a phone call or is it a video call and they didn’t specify. If it’s a video call what’s the dress code like? I’m coming from consulting so all my interviews were in suits. Any tips to get past the recruiter phone screen?

Chief of staff to the president? -- yes a career booster.
Chief of staff to some ops group at a F500? -- maybe not
Chief of staff to a unicorn founder? -- maybe so.
CoS is just a title like analyst / consultant /manager etc.
Its meaningless without context. It can be the best thing that ever happens for your career or a waste of time.
So, could be a real role or a secretary 🤷♂️
I am COS of a CEO who runs a $1 Billion P&L. I do everything. Biz Ops, Finance, SRP, LRP, M&A, Sales Ops, Delivery Ops, HR decisions, post merger, cost transformation, process optimization...you name it.
Not bad because there is no travel involved.
I’m a cos to CEO of 4b company - thrown into everything on CEO plate. Incredible way to learn. Training ground / transition option for ex consultants for P&L roles
Have 3 friends who did it and enjoyed it: one did it for a unicorn founder and is still at the company as VP. Another for a country manager of a large logistics company and now does business development for a crypto company. The last one of the top 10-20 people at Mck and decided to become an airline pilot.
Life is odd.
Job post says CoS for a portfolio, salary band is $230-$263k. Thinking of applying but it’s not what I envisioned myself doing post consulting
If they’re paying $250 it’s likely not a secretary role. The biggest thing is who are you chief of staff to? You want to make sure it’s someone you admire and want to emulate.
