Thoughts on industry advisor roles?

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

Could someone explain what finance closing process is? I passed CPA and have audit experience but I don’t really understand how industry accounting cycle works :( What does it mean to close the books? Are they referring to 12/31 deadline? Do all JE have to be recorded within this date? How does one close it?

Is there guidance/codification for departures from GAAP? Drafting a memo on some departures from GAAP (deminimus AP accruals, depreciation, etc.). I wanted some sort of authoritative literature to ref. Are noting the departed standards enough?

Anyone have any user friendly tools or services for viewing the authoritative lit? Spending a lot of time navigating w/o any license

Community, I’ve been meeting with a lot of people regarding next steps in my career. One of the best pieces of advice I received is to avoid micro-managing executive staff (agency leadership), as it puts downward and unwelcome pressure on people’s managers and ultimately oneself. Based on your experience in the last 2 years are there:
- Agencies you would steer clear from because their leadership micromanages
- Agencies you would recommend because their leadership gives you room to grow

What can I do outside the office to boost my resume and be a substantially more attractive candidate for top consulting firms in ~12 months time. Working in disputes and valuation role but want to go into management consulting next year (post MBA role). I feel like my job isn’t enough because skills aren’t considered as transferable outside this field.

So, I started working full-time at a retail store for clothing and accessories and after a brief dispute with my supervisor (my bike broke down which made me come in 20 minutes late to y shift) they told me that it seems like working is not my priority, so to make it easier on me I would only get 20 hours a week. I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? For reference, the firm has a 1900 billable hour requirement and the partner said I would have “no problem” fulfilling that based on the work they have.

So grossed out by nasty old man (triple my age) at the client. He came over to where I sat to discuss an issue and his hand "accidentally" falls on my lap! I just got up and walked away
