lol do it! outside of EY nobody will now the real difference between EYP and EY. Most likely if you plan to exit it will be so much easier to skip ranks as well!
Even if you plan to stay in EY, the growth opps are bigger in EY than EYP (partner)
Guessing your aren’t in EYP. Exit ops are definitely much better and the brand is well known for the jobs it opens up. EY is a good brand but everyone assumes you know accounting and audit or possibly tax. EYP recruiters know you can do BD, strategy, ops, and then there’s anything you specialize in like say finance vertical.
As to growth yes partner might be easier but the pay before then is significantly different. When I moved from EY as a SC I was making only a little less than what a SM made in my practice. EYP hires a lot of direct admit partners but also show the growth we have experienced. Consulting is the future of this company so I would stay.
Do not think it is a good idea. Frist, the recruiters know the difference. Second, you are more likely to be the n high demand as EY-P keeps growing fast. Lastly, I believe that EY-P has a faster career path compare to the broader EY. (Not perfect, but better than the mothership)
I have a friend stuck at the S3 level for 3 years in Parthenon, his offers from recruiters are for managerial roles. When I was a M3 I had offers for director/svp, also as a M3 you will get the chance to become a SM in 1-2 years, as a SC you will need 6-7 years to get there... "prestige" is sometimes over valued by ourselves
What are your career goals? If you want go exit consulting ASAP, then the M title will attract better exits than SC. If you plan to stay for 2 years or more, stay in EYP. You probably won't make it to SM in 2 years due to likely needing more growth time. But by then, you could make more as an M in EYP. And don't forget about access to interesting work, which EYP has more of.
