Time in role until promotion. How long does it normally take to be promoted from a consultant to Manager assuming you came into the consultant role as an experienced hire.

I am a recent grad(Finance), and my MBA school is not a named institute like Stanford. I would want to work for a consulting co. who is heavily involved in Finance. I am prior military and went to law school. I had a family to take care of while I was a student, hence I went as fast as possible to get to a paycheck, graduating in 2 years, and bypassing the standard summer clerkships. How could I get some experience strictly remote? I am w-2 working as an accountant in healthcare, have passed the bar and am working on my CPA license (studying starts at 3 am, then work FT). How is the hiring scenario of MBB at ISB? How many years of experience in a candidate are they willing to accept (assuming relevant pre mba role, for instance, say in ZS)?

Currently SA at Accenture doing Cloud Advisory, ~1.5 years of work experience. I am currently trying out an MC engagement and am enjoying it immensely, and now I’m daydreaming about doing MBB consulting.

Is this career move from SA at ACN Tech to BA at McKinsey possible? What’s a good way to achieve this? I’ve only heard of people moving there from ACN Strategy.

I’m an MS Management Student graduating in June 2023. I applied to over 40 positions within the Big 4/MBB and even with extensive networking, I haven’t heard back from any really. I have an offer from a pretty well-known but less prestigious Consulting Firm, but I’m wondering what my chances even are of going Big 4/MBB if I’m not a campus hire. Will they even consider me for an experienced hire a year or two down the road if they showed no interest this time? Any advice welcome!
