The obstacle is the way by Ryan Holiday. It’s based on stoicism but in general provides practical advice on getting through tough times or being prepared for them. Man’s search for meaning by Viktor Frankl takes an extreme example but principles can be applied to any scenario. Recommending based on my preference but to each one their own!

Andrew Huberman's podcast for overall scientific approach to mental and physical strength building.
From an autobiographical POV you can go with Rajat Gupta's Where the Mind is Without Fear or even Show Dog. Both talk about some pretty daunting downs and how they persevered.
For a more philosophical take you can check out Seneca's work on Death. Or you can pickup Herman Hesse's Siddhartha. Both talk about the spirituality and meditative aspect of mental fortitude.
