Book 2 queen beds and place clothes as a human shape on the spare bed as an imaginary roommate
*tomorrows clothes. Then your outfit is all picked out in advance, and you get to feel what it's like to absorb your twin in the womb.
Unpack as soon as you get into the room. Set up your toiletries, hang things up, put stuff in drawers, set up your chargers, hide your suitcase. Makes me feel like I live there for the three nights a week
Escorts
D12: what ? Is not that risky ? How do you reach out to them ?
I recently realized that since I wear sweats at home, I should pack sweatpants and a sweatshirt for chilling in my hotel room. Game changer
Drink
real good answer here
Fly southwest —> get companion pass by April/may —> have your SO tag along for every trip
^ no policy, SO/whomever flies free with companion pass. They stay with you in your hotel.
Get a gym membership at a real gym or class pass place nearby instead of the hotel gym. Gives you some normal home / routine type feel
Agreed! I’ve found that going to workout classes in the city that I’m traveling to is a great way to meet people and get out of the hotel!
If you’re going back & forth to the same city every week, find a few places nearby where you can become a “regular.” Doesn’t have to be a bar, either. A gym, a pharmacy, a nail salon, a grocery store, etc. Learn to do your regular errands in your travel city so they become more like doing them at home. And yes, comfy pants...and a pillowcase or throw from your own bed/couch.
Alcohol
God quality alcohol
Buy a set of full sized toiletries - exactly what you’d use at home. It makes me feel a little more human somehow.
Ask the hotel to store them over the weekend in a duffel or something.
Linen spray or travel candle. Spare comfy pants. Something other than work stuff to read
I unpack everything as soon as I get into my room and try to eat dinner outside of the hotel at least once a week. I am also a member of a local gym. I try to do normal things I would do at home when I can (e.g catching jazz in the park even if only for an hour). One of my coworkers found a place that does tennis lessons late in the evening.
Candle
I bring an amazon fire stick with me. It makes it easier to use Netflix, Hulu, YouTube etc. I also like to have full size bottles of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste. Using the drawers and hangers and putting the suitcase in a place you can’t see it. I’m staying in a hotel for three straight months, and this has helped a lot
Spray lavender on the pillows and an aroma diffuser
Bring a Bluetooth speaker and get loose
- bring your own entertainment
- unpack your clothes
- wear slippers in the room
- use the couch so you don’t do everything in bed (eating, watching tv)
- bring / buy your usual snacks to eat while in the room
Keep a spare toiletry bag with everything you’d normally use at home. I guess this is more of a general travel tip, but it makes me feel at home in hotels :)
