Everything that can and will count against utilization will be used against it. Basically they don't want you to have it man.
^ someone from management is here.
^^^ even impact day, recruiting etc. I heard at accenture PTO doesn't count against utilization.. Can someone from ACN plz confirm?
It does not at Accenture. Only common events which impact utilization are Training and the beach. I still cannot believe that other firms penalize employees for taking their earned PTO.
...some f-ing "benefit" 😒
Lmao.. The senior managers are so fucking stingy. I had one "revise" some of my hours 2 months after I rolled off. I really wanna switch to accenture and get a pay bump but im just starting to build a good network here and get on good projects so I feel like I should wait a bit before jumping ship
Plan your vacation. If you're a value-added employee with a good reputation, the rest will work itself out, and you and your manager will craft your story for reviews. If you're not, you have bigger issues.
Yeah it's legit robbery. I'm surprised it's not illegal.. Especially when they make you eat hours past 45 and travel time doesn't count for shit
@D1 perhaps "work remote", respond to work email, etc while traveling to count it?
Holidays do not PTO does, so does impact day, training ect. Look at the hours required vs days in a year. It's ridiculous. I don't worry about it too much, I was at 75% util this year and got promoted. It's more about the impact I made with that 75% and who knows you.
You're the only one that happened to? I was middle of my peers utilzationwise and still got bumped to M. Metrics are important but they are what they are so just do what you can, be visible, and shit will work out for you if you deserve it.
Take your PTO when on the beach.. Win-win
Win win for who exactly? For the firm? Fuck the firm. I want to win and I'll take my goddamn PTO when I want, thank you very much
And it's 95% for tech consultants...
I know at PwC official firm holidays do not count against it, it is built into the calculation
What're your utilization goals PwC?
All firms count it in a way. If they they do, target is lower, if they don't target is higher. Full utilization vs actual/effective utilization. It's a trick the firm use at ACN.
Nothing "counts" against utilization, you are expected to work a certain amount of hours a year, regardless of how many holidays/community service events you attend. It's the same everywhere, only underachieving associates should give a shit anyways. If you are on FB complaining about utilization, you aren't this job right.
Just got promoted to M, but this has always been my attitude. Whining about utilization is for the benchwarmers.
Yeah when you're on short term project sometimes takes a week in between to land next project cuz of timing. Then you're capped at 45. Then you do training and recruitment. How many of you actually take a full 5 weeks vacation and also hit utilization?
They realize this, and if you're valued it doesn't matter
