Tips on pivoting from project finance to energy regulatory?

Hello LTItes, i joined LTI a month back.
I attended a client interview last week and was selected for the same. Now they are asking to join within a day or two. I'm having my mom's surgery this week. How to safely refuse to join this client project for at least 10 days. I can't take leave for 10 days.
Can anyone please help me with this? I'm confused and scared.

I’ve been having a bit of trouble working with one partner at a new firm. There are definitely things I can/need to work on for improvement, but I’ve been practicing for four years and have had no trouble with other partners/peers before. This partner sent an email to me with bills for one client of his/hers I worked on and now looped in a practice management person to have a ‘management call’ (prob to talk about billing less..) Should I be looking for other opportunities?

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Has anyone here renegotiated their salary after a short time being in a role? I accepted a position and I like what I do but I realize that the workload requires a lot to see success and I feel a bit burned out already with my 40 hours/week and occasional extra 30 minutes to an hour a day.

I am stuck between putting in my time and showing my value and asking for an increase to validate doing so to avoid job hopping after a year or so.

Random partner asked a litigation-related question to a partner I frequently work with (i’m a transactional associate). My partner cc’d me and said for me to briefly look. Asked the library. They got me a great case. Sent it back. Now the random partner is asking for more cases in another circuit.

How bad is it for a junior to push back against a completely psychotic mid level? I don’t know how this mid level hasn’t been fired because they are even rude and bossy to partners and are a nightmare for juniors. I’ve decided enough is enough and am now pushing back against their arbitrary deadlines and other insane and unnecessary asks. I rarely work with this person and have good reviews. Am I asking for trouble?
