Just say you got laid off. No shame in it. Say something like "my firm laid off a number of people when divisional sales targets were not met. Make it general and that it has nothing to do with her, but an organizational issue. The move on. People are laid off every day. No one will care.
Having seen how layoff decisions are made and been laid off, I'd just be honest. It's mostly politics, who likes who the most, random timing...I'd see right through someone who tried to make up some bs about an involuntary departure and ditch the prospect if I perceived they were being dishonest.
Have seen many of "the best" get laid off. Fact: 99% of consultants, at all levels, are commodities.
I was laid off and when I was applying for new jobs, I said truthfully there were mass layoffs going on and I happened to be pet of them but this has been a great opportunity for me to reevaluate what I want to do and the direction of my career which is why I'm interviewing here. Don't focus on he layoff part, turn it around to how t was an opportunity
Exactly M2. That is what happens and why I thin you should just be honest. op- your friend will have to make her own decision. This is adulting. Ohh boy, IBM1, you are in for a shock someday. I won't even try to change your mind. You have to be older to understand it.
My friend got laid off last week and she is debating whether to come up with a good reason why she 'left' or say the truth and start on A back foot. Her big 4 firm will not reveal reason for separation under any circumstances as she is told. Let me know your thoughts ! Thank you
When you get laid off you are still "employed" by the firm until your severance ends. So basically say your on the bench and if they background check you still show as employed till the date of severance
Don't say you got laid off unless they ask. You're only kidding yourself if you think it won't hurt your chances by sharing that info...
Hahaha u can't say u left bc of travel and apply to another consulting firm...wtf do u think you'll be doing here??
Her two months have ended. She has gone to Europe to meet her parents in the time. Is now applying to other big fours
the best never get laid off A1
nor will any other firm assume the best got laid off
Why not be honest? Not a facetious question.
I think the made up reasoning for not working for two months is a worse reason than the truth. Especially if she's applying to other big 4, they understand how layoffs work and will likely not fault her.
Would a big 4 firm or Accenture give two shits about lay off employee? It's not like the best of the best get laid off. Her case is unique and don't wanna bore u guys but she has two PPEDS as her references. She was thinking of saying she wanted to switch locations to another city due to family reasons but firms didn't let her. Think it'll flow?
I don't know how telling the potential employee that you were laid off benefits you in anyway. You can always say the traveling had gotten too mic for you to bear so you left your job.
That's what I was thinking A2
Why is she applying again to big 4.
That works 2 but actually sometimes the best to get laid off
She wants to be in consulting that's why
