Took a 'mental health' day yesterday and somehow ended up even more stressed. Spent the entire time worrying about my open cases! Does anyone know how to truly switch off?

The cases will be there with or without you & not a single one is worth your mental health. Take a proper day off & unplug; if you can, take a vacation and don’t check anything related to work.

There isn’t a single case out there that’s worth you sacrificing your mental health over, and I say this as someone that owns my own PI firm.

Do you have billable hours? If so, you can never switch off. Unfortunately.

Unpopular view, but I think that mental health days and obsession with mental health in general is counterproductive. It’s like trying to live for happiness—it doesn’t work if you try to get it directly.
Try to be excellent at your job and find meaning in it. Mental health will follow.

Evaluate why you are grinding so hard and it starts to not matter as much. You grind and work weekends for someone else to live in a mansion? Or buy you pizza once every 5 months….. once you put it into perspective - you may still grind - but it isn’t an end all be all

Any tips for organizing a bedroom, closet, dresser & bathroom? My teen has IADHD, and low executive functioning. Her room looks like a land mine. Clean clothes are mixed in with dirty, her desk is a disaster, she won’t let go of clothes she’s outgrown, drawers are open with clothes hanging out. A therapist said to close her door if we don’t want to see it but it’s more than that. She needs this important life skill & I don’t know how to help. Easier to organize w/o her but that’s not a solution.

I need a laugh. Tell me about your most entitled client.

Hi everyone - I'm contemplating an offer from a large PI firm. I'm a little more than halfway through completing my 2nd year of practice, and I'm currently at a small firm with a low salary that's just no longer cutting it.

The offer from the large firm is for a pre-suit position, base salary of $100K - is this salary pretty standard for this kind of position?

Any insight is appreciated, thank you!!
