Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?
I’m so glad this bowl finally exists.

I’m also currently going it (8 credits a quarter, FT @ agency) and agree with D1 it’s very hard but very doable. Tbh COVID probably helped a little because it removed me needing to decline social plans for homework 🙃 but I have really enjoyed the experience so far and can’t wait to get back into the classroom soon!
Nope, but happy to know there are multiple of us out here 😅
I’m doing this right now, similar agency tenure and similar weekly hours. It’s doable and although it’s hard I think it’s stretching me in the right ways. Really depends on the program! As you explore I’d recommend talking to current students and the program managers to understand what courseload will look like. For me, my personal time management hasn’t been the problems - it’s the members of my group projects. They are more junior and have less responsibility so their priorities and daily schedules are different than mine. We had good expectation setting during our the first few weeks where I made it clear that during work hours I’m not available to discuss group work unless it’s planned. It’s been okay for far!
Happy to talk to you more about my personal experience if you want to shoot me a DM!
Seems challenging, exhausting, masochistic and borderline crazy.
Not all of my in-house experiences were positive, but they did generally have sane hours.
Even so, when I enrolled in a night class to learn some animation/motion graphics software, it was tough to focus after a regular 7-8 hours of work. And there were time crunches where I’d work 8 hours , attend class at night, and then have to go back after class and finish work projects due first thing next morning.
When that happens, it’s hard to retain anything from class or give your best effort on the work assignment.
And if you’re going part time, that’s a routine you’d have to keep up for an even longer period.
I took time off from work for grad school and am so relieved I did. My program was a really intense 1 year thing and I don’t think I could have ever handled it while working full time.
I did it! I went to grad school for my MS in Digital Marketing. My program was 100% online, which really helped me. I also went part-time and took summer classes so I would still graduate in a reasonable amount of time but not get burnt out. I was in school while I was in positions that had me working 40 hours a week to 50 hours a week. It’s tough and I had to take a semester off at one point, but it’s doable. Set your boundaries and stick to them. Your company will survive.
May I ask what program? I’ve been looking at a few online degree programs but they all kind of sound the same to me.
I got my MFA while permalancing as a senior at a small agency.
Having support and understanding from your CDs is key. I think a huge factor behind them being so supportive was also the fact that I was an hourly employee (I actually switched from FT to permalance when I went to school and I got health insurance through my MFA program), so they didn’t feel “on the hook” for hours when I was at school.
I did it, granted pretty early in my career when I was a Jr Copywriter. My advice- 1) make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons (passion about the subject, perhaps you want to teach, etc) not simply because you think it will advance your career in Advertising. 2) take it slow. It’s easy to jump in with both feet to get classes knocked out, but finding that balance between your FT responsibilities and your course load is crucial. 3) if you end up doing a project or dissertation, take a weeks worth of PTO at the start to get ahead of your research and at the end to make sure you have plenty of time to focus on final rounds of edits, etc. Good luck.
Tough but not impossible. Is it an online grad program at least?
Yes, 100% online!
I’ve been doing this the past few years, but I’ve just been taking one class a semester. The one time I tried to take two classes, it nearly broke me. I’ll finish my Masters this year. The program I’m in is structured for working professionals, so I haven’t experienced some of the group work challenges mentioned above, as nearly everyone is also working a full time job. I do suggest chatting with your supervisor to see if on days you have class, if you can leave work or log off at least an hour early. Having some time in-between work and evening classes is crucial. Good luck!
I’ve thought about this many times. Out of curiosity, is it a MBA or something else?
Mine is not a MBA , it’s a data science program in a business school. I wanted something that blended business fundamentals with foundation in analytics.
I think it would be easier for me if it was an MBA because the math would be easier and I’d just be banging out case studies whereas my current program has writing + a lot of coding / math.
Doing this now. It's a lot of work but it helps me to just do school work anytime I have downtime. I have to force myself to be productive. I'm doing an MBA at a top school dm if you have questions.
